When you finish homeschooling your youngest child you may
think that your teaching days are over. However several
women have found themselves staring across the table at their
grandchildren while waiting for them to work out a math
problem.
These grandparents aren't helping with
homework or tutoring their grandchild in a weak area, they are
homeschooling them. For one reason or another they have
taken on the responsibility of their grandchild's
education.
Liz is one such grandmother and she has a lot of
questions! Partly because she's curious but mainly
because she would like to give and receive support with
other homeschooling grandparents.

Something Special

|
| Are there any other grandparents homeschooling their
grandchildren? |
|
I am a homeschooling grandmother. I homeschooled my own
children K-12 (The youngest just graduated college) and I just
finished my 2nd year with my grandson. I would like to
know:
- How many other homeschooling grandmothers there are at
HSB?
- Why are they homeschooling their
grandchildren?
- Did they homeschool their own children?
- Are their grandchildren living with them?
- How do they keep the parent/parents involved in the
schooling process or do they even try?
- What kind of schedule do they keep?
- Is it easier or harder this time around?
- Are any of them also still homeschooling some of their
own?
- How is it different, better or worse, than homeschooling
your own?
- Do they feel like they "fit in" with the younger
homeschooling mothers?
- Do they think they will follow through to graduation?
- Do they regret not having their "retirement" years?
- Do they have a plan if they could not continue?
- Would they recommend it to others that are considering
it?
Thank you,
Liz |
