A while ago in Minute to Minute we discussed how to help
chronically ill homeschooled children; well, today we
have two homeschool moms who are chronially ill themselves.
They feel the Lord has called them to homeschool, but how can
they teach with constant headaches, migraines, and chronic
concentration problems?
While we know the Lord has a reason for everything,
it can still be hard to get through the difficult days,
especially when every day is difficult. But we are grateful to
groups like Rest
Ministries who offer support and encouragement
to chronically ill homeschool moms.
If you or anyone you know has ever dealt with teaching as
a chronically ill parent, we want to hear from you. Share your
hints, advice, devotionals, and home remedies that help you
homeschool even on your worst day.
None of us choose illness, but sometimes when we
plead for God to remove our infirmities, He
softly whispers, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my
strength is made perfect in weakness." (II Corinthians
12:9) | |

| Chronic Migraines
|
Dear Minute to Minute Readers,
My two daughters have a life-threatening tree nut allergy
and have asthma. Neither of those issues prevent them
from attending a private school, but it does dramatically
increase the stress level that they (and mom!) experience. In
just this one way homeschooling has been a blessing.
Homeschooling does pose a challenge for me
though. I have chronic migraines and various other
ailments. So from day to day I'm not sure how we'll do and how
we'll get everything done. My girls are in 10th grade now -
this is our 6th year of homeschooling. I feel guilty when
I can't help my girls as much as I want to, and they have to
do a lot of independent study. They are quite capable of
it, but I feel like I'm letting them down and that they'll
remember childhood as a time when "mom was always
sick." Any advice would be helpful. I know the Lord
can do all things and, technically, He does not need my help
at all, but it is a privilege to labor with Him, and if
there's someway I can do it better, that would be a good
thing.
Thank you for your help.
A Chronically
Ill Homeschool Mom,
Cheryl

| Inter-cranial Hypertension |
| Hello Minute to Minute Readers,
I would love some advise on how others handle
homeschooling while as the parent, they are chronicly
ill. I have just been re-diagnosed with inter-cranial
hypertension (too much fluid on the brain). I started
homeschooling our daughter last year, and she is now in first
grade. We have been blessed with only one child. The
biggest problem I am having is chronic headaches and
concentration problems and am lucky to be able to coordinate
just daily household needs. Any advise would be greatly
appreciated!
