Here's a simple and crazy idea for a fun meal. Cut 8 strips about 3/4 the length of a hot dog. Boil the hot dog until cooked. The "arms" of the octopus will curl. Serve with French fries in honor of Jacques Cousteau.

February 4 - Who Was Rosa Parks?


African-American Rosa Parks, known as the mother of the Civil Rights Movement, was born on this day in 1913. In 1955, she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man, resulting in her arrest and sparking a bus boycott in her hometown of Montgomery, Alabama.

February 20 - James Weddell Near South Pole


British explorer James Weddell reached a southern latitude of 74°15’S on this day in 1823, the farthest south anyone had been. He discovered a sea near the South Pole and a new species of seal, now known as the Weddell seal. Learn more...

How far south?
James Weddell traveled farther south than any other person in his day. In fact, his record would stand until 1911! Find out how far south that was by looking at a map or a globe and locating the southern latitude 74°15’S.
