Welcome to the North Dakota section of The Old Schoolhouse web site! We are grateful to TOS for allowing us to be part of this important work. The North Dakota Home School Association is the only statewide, homeschool group in ND. It is a non-profit Christian organization providing information and services to any home educator in need. There are now almost thirty local support groups associated with the NDHSA, representing hundreds of families in our state. The Association publishes a monthly newsletter, The Home School Report, available free of charge to anyone who asks. We publish a P.S. Superintendent’s PKT, a Monitor’s PKT and a quarterly publication, The Prairie ‘Rose’ Companion, for ND support group leaders, and the ND Guide to Home School High School. We also send out a biweekly e-newsletter, the Eclectic. The NDHSA sponsors an annual statewide convention featuring keynote speakers, workshops, used-book sale, large vendor hall, special Friday evening entertainment, an art exhibit, and a banquet to honor support group leaders. In 2002 the Association co-sponsored the first statewide commencement ceremony for home school graduates. During the biennial session of the ND legislature the NDHSA staff follows legislation which may affect home educating families. Home School Legal Defense Association and the NDHSA have a close working arrangement and provide a group discount plan for HSLDA membership. The NDHSA website contains information about home education in ND and has a downloadable copy of the state statutes governing home education. It also contains information on testing and testing services, a summary of the law, an article on educational philosophies, a listing of resources and much more.
