God's Word for Little Ones: Bible Stories I Can Read is a nice hardcover, almost 400-page book of Bible stories and more! It's perfect for little ones with its large bold print and colorful illustrations and with the way Bible stories are told in language easy for young ones to understand. Each story is accompanied with questions to answer that pertain to what they've just read, a fact relating to the story, and a verse that the story is based upon. I love this complete format for sealing Bible truths in the hearts of our littlest children--very engaging!
An example from the book:
God Is the Creator, Genesis 1:1-23. The story is simple enough for young children to truly understand, while still conveying the truth--this is paramount. At the end of the story is the "Think About This" section of questions, simple enough--yet still challenging their listening and comprehension skills. The "Did You Know" section is the fact area. In this story, it gives information on the largest creature God created, the blue whale. This chapter ends with Genesis 1:1--"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." This type of verse is a perfect length for young ones, not too long and not too short. The questions are great for a number of reasons. I know my children love to answer the questions posed to them; it's almost a challenge to make sure they get it right. Again, sealing God's Word in their hearts is so important.
In an age when so many of the materials available for Christian children are "fluff" and not based on truth, this is refreshing to find! This book makes a great daily read, whether together as a family, one on one, or alone if your child is reading. It's perfect for young readers! It would also make a wonderful gift! Would I buy it? Absolutely!
