The Growing Readers Phonics Bible and The Growing Readers Book of Prayers are DVDs for children to watch and learn about phonics and the Bible at the same time. The DVD contains on-screen text and narration for the children. They put the phonics sound that they are working on in red so the children focus on that sound. They work with the 44 core phonics sounds.
I sat down with my children to watch The Growing Readers Phonics Bible and The Growing Readers Book of Prayers and was impressed with how well it was done. The younger one, age 4, did get bored with it, but the other two, ages 7 and 9, were okay with it. There is no animation in the story. They only put pictures behind the words to help kids stay focused on the sounds they are trying to help them learn. I think this is a good teaching tool and helps them learn the Bible at the same time. I would give this a 4 out of 5.
