Three Grin Salad is a book for kids by a kid! Aja King, the author, is a ten-year-old girl from western Canada. She wrote this book as a way of teaching other kids something that she's obviously very passionate about: living a happy and healthy life.

Three Grin Salad is divided into five chapters. Each chapter is very short and focuses on how to get healthy, how to stay healthy, and how to be happy. Aja has included several "recipes," such as a recipe for love and one for gratitude. The book ends with a section of questions for the reader and includes plenty of space to fill in answers.

Aja definitely makes some good points in this book; most of them are fairly basic. Some points, however, I found to be a little opinionated. (For example, she says that some kids are too fat because they watch television and chat on the computer all day. To me, that is a generalization and an opinion, not a fact.) Kids may be more prone to heed the advice in the book because it's coming from a peer, as opposed to a parent or another adult. My daughter (age 13) didn't care for the book, though; she said it seemed a bit too "preachy" and "not all that believable."

I like some aspects of the book, but probably would not purchase it if it were not already in my possession. I consider $12.95 to be a bit expensive when I take into consideration the size of the book and the amount of content.
