This is certainly a power-packed book! The Power of A Positive Woman Devotional & Journal is just one of a series written by the author to help women deepen their knowledge of God and His Word.
The book is divided into 52 weeks worth of "Monday Morning Motivations." Each week (or chapter) covers a key Scripture, a quote, and a "Reflection" written by the author to correlate with the Scripture passage.
The journal part of each week includes a short space to record "My Thoughts" on each devotion, "My Prayer," and "My Choices." Finally, if you still have time, there is a "For Further Reading" section that includes another Scripture passage and another quote.
The part I really like is the "My Choices" section. Each Monday morning after you read the "Reflection," you record your thoughts and prayer and then you write out your choices as to how you will apply the Scripture to your life for the week.
Here is an example of that. Regarding the Scripture in Ezra, "the gracious hand of his God was on him," the author expounds on the reason for this blessing, shown in Ezra's next statement: "for Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the LORD." The author encourages us to have Ezra's passion for God's Word. Under "My Choices" for that week, here are a couple of the listings:
- This week I will choose to develop a passion for God's Word by reading it and studying it regularly.
- This week I will choose to walk in obedience to God.
- This week I will choose to thank God for his gracious hand of protection.
The reason I like this devotional so much is that it is simple enough and short enough for my daughter and me to do together every Monday morning. I also like the fact that it touches nearly every book of the Bible, starting with passages from Genesis in week one and ending with Revelation in week 52. By including the extra readings when we have time, we will have touched on most of the Bible in a year's time.
This is a great resource to help busy moms (and their kids) stay in the Word regularly.
