I Love Carrot Soup is a unit-study for toddlers and preschoolers based on the classic children's book The Tawny Scrawny Lion. It is available in e-book format.

The unit study is divided into two sections. The first section contains a 4-day plan that can be used for four consecutive days or broken up over a few weeks. Each day includes reading the story The Tawny Scrawny Lion, answering discussion questions, and ideas for further enrichment. Day Four actually involves preparing and eating carrot soup (recipe included).

Section Two is made up of six chapters. You can select just one or two of them or use them all, according to your needs. Chapter One gives advice on reading to your child and includes 33 questions for active discussion. Chapter Two gives ideas on teaching the numbers (1-10) with some fun song lyrics. Chapter Three focuses on teaching the days of the week, Chapter Four contains fun and interesting facts and ideas for parents, Chapter Five is the recipe for carrot soup, and Chapter Six is made up of fun ideas for serving and eating the soup.

This unit study also contains several appendices with added ideas and instructions. There are step-by-step instructions on how to make your own mini-book, a recipe for play-dough, and some other things.

I enjoyed the Little Golden Books when I was a child, and still have many of these books in our home library. I love reading them to my children, so I was excited to see a unit study based on one of these children's favorites. I enjoy prepared unit studies that do not require a lot of time and effort on my part, and this one was no exception. I would definitely consider purchasing other items by this author.
