Math Noodlers is fun! The whole family has enjoyed this new board game from Edupress/Highsmith. The object of Math Noodlers is to answer your question correctly, move ahead, and be the first one to reach the finish line. The game teaches and reinforces multiplication, division, measurement, graphing, fractions, decimals, time, and more!
To play, choose a player to be the keeper of the answer key. Each player chooses a pawn. The person with the first turn rolls the die, moves the number of spaces shown, and then chooses a card from the card deck of the same color as the space landed on. The player answers the question on the card, and the person with the answer key checks the answer. The really unique thing here is that you can answer your question in a variety of ways. You can "Choose It" from list of multiple choice answers; you can 'Show It" from the Noodle-O manipulatives; you can "Write It" using scratch paper; or you can "Doodle It" by drawing your answer on scratch paper. (This is perfect for individual learning styles!) There are also "Wacky Cards" scattered throughout each category that will have players singing, hopping, and acting out their answers.
This is an entertaining game for everyone, and it will have them learning all the way through. It is excellent for children in general, but I think it would be especially helpful for struggling or reluctant math learners. Education never looked like this when I was a child. This beats the textbook approach any day! Happy learning!
