Aren't rubber bands fun? I think so! I've used a lot of rubber bands in my life, but I've never had this much fun with them. It's all because I learned a new art form with the book Rubb-Origami: The Art of Creating Rubber Band Sculptures (Volume 1).
Developed by a couple of imaginative adult brothers, this new art form works strictly with rubber bands of all sizes. This book is a step-by-step guide, with pictures and descriptions of every step. Volume 1 walks the reader through the process of making a Rubber Rubberband Man, an irresistably stretchy fellow that will probably become a favorite toy when completed. If you know a kid who loves to build complex Lego contraptions, chances are they would love Rubb-Origami too.
The instructions are very clear and easy to follow, and between each section is a thought-provoking quote for you to ponder as you sculpt. Rubber Rubberband Man could even be used as part of a lesson in anatomy, since building the "Tendons, Ligaments, Muscles, and Epidermis" is part of the construction process.
Rubb-Origami is recommended for ages 6 and up by the authors. I agree with that suggestion, but I think some of the younger artists may need assistance. Let your kids try Rubb-Origami. They will love it!
