I’m not sure how to condense my thoughts on this book into one or two brief paragraphs. I have just been perusing this book and have realized that, without a doubt, I need to sit down and read this one through cover-to-cover. Even in E-Book format, The Gift of Family Writing is a beautiful book! It is filled with timeless photographs, and the ideas and suggestions contained within its pages will help you create a timeless treasure both with and for your family.
Author, Jill Novak, shares ideas and methods to use with your children to both teach and facilitate them to share their stories on paper. What I really love about this book is that she is not just telling us (the readers) what to do and how to do it, but she is actually showing us, by sharing examples from her own children’s journals. Just seeing the candid things they are writing about, and realizing that this family has these journals to pass down to future generations, is enough to make me run out for some journals and put these ideas into practice with my own family.
As you learn through the pages of this book how to teach your children to write, you will also be learning how to better nurture your family relationships and you will end up with a lasting legacy! Jill has poured out her heart on the pages of this book- it’s a gift to you; accept it!
