Dinosaurs Across America

Dinosaurs Across America by Phil Yeh is a full-color graphic picture book/novel featuring all 50 states and Washington, DC. Each state entry includes interesting facts, the capital city, the year of statehood, and more.

This book will appeal to a wide variety of ages. My 8-year-old son loves comic books, so he was initially drawn to the cute dinosaurs presenting state facts. After he looked over the book, he enjoyed reading the facts about the states. His sisters (ages 12, 16, and 18) all thought it was a cute book.

This is not a curriculum but rather a supplement to your existing geography program. Think of it as a library builder.

The dinosaurs journey alphabetically though the states, teaching Patrick Rabbit interesting facts. Although poor Patrick is not a very smart bunny to begin with, by the end of the book he certainly knows a bit about each state. Along the way, Patrick gets numerous "talks" encouraging him to study and to stay in school.

I don't like comics. Despite this fact, I enjoyed Dinosaurs Across America.
