Word Family Stories and Activities Level C is a playful way to incorporate additional phonics practice into your student’s day. The Level C book focuses primarily on word families that utilize the long vowel sounds. For each word family presented, four activities are provided to reinforce phonics skills. An introduction is given through an initial blending of a beginning consonant with the word family. The second activity is a story that incorporates the word family words and corresponding reading comprehension questions. Third, the student is presented activity pages that provide additional practice in writing the word family words and using them to complete sentences. Finally, the student can construct a sliding folder to help review the words.
The Word Family Stories and Activities Level C book would be most appropriate for those students who are in the intermediate to higher levels of phonics training. All of the activities can be completed with the addition of a sharpened pencil and a pair of scissors. Although this book would not be an all inclusive phonics study, it could very easily be used as a supplement to other phonics training or to create spelling lists as a substitute for traditional spelling books.
