One Minute Mysteries from Science Naturally is a joint father/daughter venture to introduce and explain 65 mysteries that you can solve with science (hence the title of the book.)  Each chapter is a short read aloud that gives a situation and then explains how it is solved with science.
 
The book is well written and easy to read aloud.  I would expect that most children reading on a 4th grade level could read it on their own.
 
When I first opened One Minute Mysteries I was a bit disappointed.  I had expected that we would be presented with 65 situations and would then have to use science to solve them.  This was not the case.  The authors give you a situation and then they solve them with science.  I would have preferred that the solutions be presented at the end of the book so that we would work to figure it out and then could go and check our findings against theirs.
 
I think that most upper elementary students will enjoy reading One Minute Mysteries as long as then know that they are not really going to be solving a problem on their own.
