Jim Weiss is a wonderful storyteller whose audio stories my children and I have enjoyed listening to for many years. This collection of short stories is no exception. A
Treasury of Wisdom includes ten true stories from the pages of history that you may have never heard before. You're almost as sure to enjoy hearing the tales as much as your children enjoy them.
Did you know that artists Raphael and Michelangelo didn't get along very well? Me either. What's more interesting, though, is how the story takes a twist of helpfulness and honesty when you least expect it. Each of the tales on the CD is written with one or more values highlighted as you meet wise people, and sometimes not so wise people. Either way, the message is clear that wisdom and virtues win out in the end.
Written for children seven and older, the stories span time from ancient history to the 1900's. You'll listen to tales about people like Alexander the Great, Beatrix Potter, King Solomon and even Jesus. The entire CD lasts approximately 80 minutes, but each story varies in length with none of them lasting more than ten minutes. For our family, they've made for great listening as we travel our short trip to and from town.
If your family enjoys reading or listening to audio books, this CD will add meaningful literature to your library. My children and I have had some great discussions about the morals of the stories and how those morals might relate to our own lives. I'm always on the lookout for good literature that gently instructs my children on the "right" path, and I'm happy to say this fits the criteria.
