The Robot Matching Game, by the award-winning company eeBoo, comes in a beautiful box filled with 48 2" x 2" squares decorated with robots. The children are to match up the squares with their mates, for a total of 24 pairs. There are dog robots and bird robots as well as outer space pictures on the squares. The handcrafted paintings are a work of art.
This matching game was designed for ages 5 and up. The children are to lay the tiles picture side down. Then one person turns over two tiles and tries to make a match. If the person does not make a match then the tiles are turned back over. Then, the second player turns over two tiles. Each player is seeking a match. The player with the most matches wins. The tiles can also be used as a pre-reading exercise if you place them in a sequencing order. Or they can be used to create a story. An artistic child may want to try to copy the work shown on the tiles. The possibilities are endless!
My younger children used the tiles as a matching game and loved it. My older son used the tiles as inspiration for his artwork. The Robot Matching Game is so colorful that it adds color to a bleak day. I enjoyed bringing it out in the afternoon after a difficult school day. Sometimes we would just talk about the design on a tile and create stories.
There isn't anything that I would change about this product. The
Robot Matching Game can be used for boys or girls. However, if I was purchasing a matching game just for my daughters, I might choose one of eeBoo's other matching games that was more definitely feminine.
eeBoos products are creative and beautiful. They add the extra fun in a ho-hum school day.
