Bible by the Book: Old Testament Proverbs is a booklet of 169 true/false and multiple choice questions covering the book of Proverbs. The questions are grouped by the 31 chapters of Proverbs. There are anywhere from 1 to 9 questions per chapter. The King James Version of the Bible is used.
The second half of the book is a duplication of the first part of the book, with correct answers bolded and references to the Bible passage included.
There are no instructions or teacher notes. I assume you would copy the pages for your child/ren but you could also do the questions orally. Nor is there any information regarding what ages or grades the curriculum is designed for.
My family thought the answers to the questions were a bit obvious and did not require much thought. Here are some examples: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of A) knowledge or B) obtaining many friends; A) Gray or B) Dyed hair is a crown of glory; A virtuous woman's price is A) far above rubies or B) a token amount.
Multiple choice and true/false questions do not require as much thinking or re-call of information as do open-ended questions. Many more ideas could have been included in this book. How about contrasting "wisdom personified" with the strange woman? How about suggesting specific verses to memorize? What about tracking the number of times a Proverb is restated?
I think Bible by the Book: Old Testament Proverbs is a good starting point for reviewing the book of Proverbs, especially for very young children or students who may be challenged with learning issues, but as a study for older children, it leaves some things to be desired.
