Art Masterpieces to Color: 60 Great Paintings from Botticelli to Picasso

Dover Publications
www.doverpublications.com

As I flipped through this coloring book, I was transported in my mind back to my university Intro to Art History class. A great variety of art from the Renaissance to the 20th Century is represented in these sixty renderings. Drawings are printed on one side only so your works of art can be removed and framed. The durable paper will support watercolors, markers, and pencils. The paintings are shown in full color on the covers so you can imitate the original color palette, or be creative and try something different.

Each page is a standard 8 ½ by 11 inches with a caption under each rendering identifying the artist's full name, title of work, and date. At the back of the book are short biographical sketches of each artist with interesting information about his or her work. The book is arranged alphabetically by artist rather than chronologically, my only minor complaint about this excellent resource.

Sensitive parents, be forewarned: there are three nudes that you may not want your children to view and/or color. Also keep in mind that this is a survey of art coloring book, so there are likely to be a few paintings you do not like. However, many lovely ones make this book highly worthwhile in my opinion.
