Clues to Comprehension (3-4) is an Evan-Moor product designed to build strategic thinking skills through language play. This book/CD combo consists of 40 posters that provide cases to solve and encourages critical thinking skills. Students have to determine the identity of the mystery item that is the subject of the poster. For example, one poster reads, "Lost! July 10th Left at Sunshine Beach. Thin, round plastic disk with white and black stripes. Can be thrown and caught. Please call Susan at 555-8541." The students have to solve the mystery to discover what Susan lost. Teacher pages provide guidelines for modeling and practicing critical thinking strategies. Reproducible student pages include many items like those found on standardized tests, such as vocabulary development, reading comprehension, decoding, and structural analysis. The accompanying CD correlates with the book and allows you to print out the teacher pages, clue charts, and activity pages in the text. This is a fun supplement to any reading program!
