Simply fantastic is how I would describe this book, "Easy Homeschooling Techniques." Information on the back cover says, "become an expert quickly" and I would without a doubt agree! I have read quite a few homeschooling books and even subscribe to Mrs. Curry's newsletter, but I just couldn't put this book down. I carried it to the breakfast table, read it before bed, and even tried to read it while cooking supper or throwing laundry in the washer. "Easy Homeschooling Techniques" reads quickly, flows comfortably, refreshes, stimulates with creative ideas, and gleans the best of the best from all of the current and not so current homeschooling trends. When I was about halfway through, I decided that I must have the second book by Lorraine entitled "Easy Homeschooling Companion" so I ordered it immediately. All this combined with a firm Biblical foundation makes "Easy Homeschooling Techniques" a must read to encourage and uplift Mom in her homeschool journey!

I have been homeschooling for several years now, but I found at least one useful tip (most times many more) in every chapter. I particularly enjoyed the chapters: Training for Eternity (spiritual growth is always the first and foremost goal mentioned throughout), Gleaning from History, and Mining the Methods. Rather than supporting one particular method of teaching, Mrs. Curry's approach is to take each one and highlight their strengths, combining them for a unique educational experience. This experience benefits both student and teacher. I also enjoyed the chapter on "Building a Business" and the candid approach to child-rearing taken there. Finally, the chapter "Abiding in the Vine" is a word fitly spoken in today's world.

If you are a new homeschooler looking for refreshing, tired of curriculum packages that leave you worn and frazzled by the day's end, or simply always looking for new ideas and information, "Easy Homeshooling Techniques" is for you. Whether you are just beginning or have been homeschooling for years, are teaching kindergarten or high school, it is all here. You will not be disappointed.
