Marvelous Math for Windows is a marvelous program! Nothing flashy, glitzy, or hard to understand - this is a down to earth, math facts review program. The author states that if you use this program consistently for 15 minutes (or whatever you feel necessary) per day your child will master his/her math facts, guaranteed! The program is very simple to understand, and simple to set up. Just pop the CD into your computer, spend a minute setting up a student list, and away they go. The students are presented with their math facts in a very basic way, but there are lots of little extras to this program. There is a cumulative review built in. The program keeps track of each user and how they are progressing in their knowledge of math facts. It gives review questions while continuing on in the basic facts track. The program reviews addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division up to and beyond 12s. I found it a great way to give my kids the review they needed, without all the fluff of trying to follow a story line or learn how the program works. This program was written by a homeschool dad who saw in his kids the need for consistent review in their math facts. This is exactly what the program does! My son is doing very well on reviewing his math facts, and it is a painless way to spend 15 minutes or so while reviewing. This program can be used with any existing math program. It doesn't add anything new or confusing. It is simply math facts review. The student sees a question on the screen and is prompted to input the correct answer. If he gets it correct, there is a little car that moves across the top of the screen. At the end of the last question, a helicopter comes and gives him a "ride" back to the start of the line again. If a student gets an answer incorrect, there are no beeps or bells, just a little prompt to try again. He is given five tries to get the answer correct before a picture is shown to prompt him with the correct answer. In early setting, a picture clue is given right away after the first wrong answer. At the end of the session, the computer will tell him how he did with his session, and give a breakdown of correct answers. The computer keeps track of each student and at the start of the next session, there is a short review of the last session, and then the computer continues on from where it left off.

In today's world where everything seems to be moving so fast and so noisily, it is a pleasure to see a simple little program do exactly what it's meant to do and to see positive results from its use so quickly.
