Phonics Solutions is a supplemental phonics review program for Spalding-based phonics programs, but since it has over 4000 built-in words, it can provide spelling practice and review for any child in any curriculum.

I became interested in Phonics Solutions because, to tell you the sorry truth, I absolutely hate reviewing phonogram flashcards every day. I was looking for any way I could reinforce the Orton-Gillingham phonograms without me having to sit through them one more time.

This program is much more complete than I imagined! It also includes the spelling rules, and over 4000 words, which can be quizzed by the computer. This program is completely mouse-driven, so your child does not have to waste time trying to type. In order for you to keep track of your child's progress, the program will track which spelling rules and phonograms are missed the most. You can customize word lists to match your homeschool's spelling words. I found the program easy to use, except that you cannot type the customized words in, but must choose them from the chart. The benefits of using this program far outweigh the inconvenience of this method for making the customized list. During the spelling, your child clicks on the individual phonograms used to spell the word. This is great because it reinforces the phonogram as a unit in that word.
