In this issue's Media Spotlight, we will be focusing on the ongoing debate between the conservative and liberal positions in today's chaotic culture. For many years, observers have noted the predominately liberal bias in the main-stream media sources. Now, a trend which seemed merely unfair is proving to be more than just an irritation. It is evolving into a cancer that is consuming our culture and our educational institutions, and threatening the fragile religious freedoms that we hold dear.
Media Spotlight will turn its focus on two outspoken opponents of this current trend: men who have refused to lay down their arms in the Culture Wars, but have instead decide to expose and confront the secret agendas that affect the world that we are preparing for our children. First, our Senior Editor Jen Igarashi conducted an interview with well-known conservative author David Limbaugh. Limbaugh, a lawyer with a degree from Columbia Law School, is a sought-after public speaker, addressing various topics that include the Constitution, America's Christian heritage, and political and cultural issues from a conservative perspective.
His new book,Persecution: How Liberals Are Waging War Against Christianity, chronicles the trend of discrimination against God and Christians by nation which once called itself Christian. This compelling book makes a case against the exploitations and manipulations taking place in the public school system. If anything, this book will reaffirm your decision to homeschool. It will also open your eyes to the modern martyrdom that is affecting our culture in many ways.
Also, I was privileged to speak directly with another author, whose book Welcome to the Ivory Towers of Babel: Confessions of a Conservative College Professor, has been widely discussed on talk shows and at universities (including Yale) across the country. Author Dr. Mike Adams is a Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. His fascinating journey from liberalism and atheism to conservatism and Christianity gives him a unique perspective on the cultural trends that are invading our educational institutions, doing harm to our children, and stripping us of our Constitutional freedom of expression. After earning tenure at the University, Adams gained more freedom to write about the"cultural Marxism" that has invaded college campuses. His insider's view of the warped culture of the modern university provides a needed warning to those who are considering choices for training after high school.
