The Littledoobiddles and Doobetterdees

By Michael "Uncle Mike" Daniel

There is a small town know as Littledooville
That sits at the bottom of Doobetter Hill
Where Littledoobiddles live day after day;
They don't want to work: why, they don't even play.

Their reason for living is just to get by.
They're often so bored they just sit down and cry.
They'll settle for second, they'll settle for less.
They'll settle for eighth, or ninth, or tenth best.

They'll settle for what they can get out of life,
A Littledoo house and a Littledoo wife,
A Littledoo husband who never does work,
A Littledoo son who's a Littledoo jerk,

A Littledoo daughter who's lazy and weak;
She's even too lazy to play hide-n-seek.
A Littledoo dog and a Littledoo cat,
A Littledoo this and a Littledoo that.

With Littledoo neighbors they don't even know,
With Littledoo get-up and Littledoo go,
With Littledoo friends that just couldn't care less,
With Littledoo friendship that won't stand the test.

Thinking Littledoo thoughts, having Littledoo feelings,
Dreaming Littledoo dreams that are not so appealing,
And eating their Littledoo junky old food,
That puts them in Littledoo very bad moods.

Littledoobiddles blame everyone else,
For Littledoo messes they mess up themselves.
They worry, they fret, oh, their brains in a muddle!
They drown every day in their Littledoo puddles.

Now contrary to Littledoobiddles, you see,
On Doobetter Hill live the Doobetterdees.
And the Doobetterdees are so happy each day.
They wear themselves out playing Doobetter games,

Like Flibberteejibbets and Hopperteedoodles.
They have so much Doobetter fun, gobs and oodles.
And Zibberjawinkers, they play it with ease.
That's a game where they swing on their knees through the trees.

And life is for caring for everything in it,
And sharing each day every Doobetter minute.
They just will not settle for tenth, ninth, or eighth.
They'll Doobetter yet until everything's great.

The Doobetterdees are all thoughtful and kind,
And helping out others is first on their minds.
A Doobetterdee doesn't mind working hard.
They'll clean up the house and they'll help in the yard.

With Doobetter dogs and their Doobetter cats-
Why no one could ever Doobetter than that.
With Doobetter neighbors that everyone knows,
With Doobetter parties and everyone goes.

A Doobetter friend is a friend through and through,
With Doobetter hearts that are true better blue.
And the Doobetterdees are all healthy and strong,
From Doobetter exercise all the day long.

And the Doobetterdees would not ever complain,
If it's windy or snowing or pouring down rain.
And the best thing to know about Doobetterdees,
Is the love they give freely to someone who needs.

And then at the end of the Doobetter day,
Every Doobetter will thank God as they pray.
At night when they dream all their Doobetter dreams,
They help the next morning Doobetter, it seems.

So tell me the truth-which would you rather be?
A Littledoobiddle or Doobetterdee?
