As a little treat, we thought we’d share a conversation
Gena had a couple of weeks ago with Bob and
Larry of the famed VeggieTales. It was so silly!
We Suarezes were just working hard, minding our own
business, playing with the kids, and guess who stops by?
A couple of cute veggies. Take a look at what we talked
about.
GENA: Bob and Larry! Hey, thanks for stopping by The
Old Schoolhouse for a visit this fall. It’s been a couple of
years since we last chatted here at TOS. Come on in out of
the wet rain! Tennessee at this time of year is pretty soggy.
I don’t want you to wilt or anything. Sit down! So, how are
you two boys getting along?
BOB: Hello—it’s good to be back again and it is so nice
to see you!
LARRY: Yeah, it sure is! I’ve missed the
old homeschool place. There’s no place
like homeschool!
BOB: Larry, be serious!
GENA: Ahh, Bob, he’s okay. Life can’t
always be serious. [grin]
LARRY: Oh, okay! How are we getting
along? Great! We’ve been spending
a lot of time together over at Bob’s house!
That’s where our new TV show is based!
BOB: Yeah, we have been working a lot
together on our new show. I can’t wait to
show it to everyone!
GENA: And I can’t wait to see it. You two
are hilarious—our kids love you guys. As
you know, Larry, more and more veggies
are being homeschooled. What are your
thoughts on that? Any comments?
LARRY: I love home … and I love
school—so I bet homeschool is really fun!
I think it’s cool that kids get to spend time
with their families while they’re learning!
Do you still get a recess or have those little
square pizzas for lunch? I never liked to
drink milk on pizza day. That just seemed
strange to me—pizza with milk? I just
don’t know about that. You remember that
kid Oscar that was in lip rehab with me?
He liked milk and pizza, so I guess if you
really like it …
BOB: Larry! Anyway, it is great that
kids can learn right in their own home. I
think that’s great.
LARRY: Yeah, me too—even without
milk and pizza.
GENA: [laughs] Listen, boys, homeschool
is where it’s really at. Recess is far
better at home because it lasts longer. In
fact, we combine that with lots of field
trips with friends, too. And pizza? Hey,
as a homeschool veggie, you can have it
the way you want, with or without milk.
And my kids don’t have to stand in line
for it, either. Lots of freedom to be YOU
when you’re homeschooled.
You know, Bob, I have to say that Paul
and I really loved your response to Larry
a few years back when, in Spanish, he
sang about your dancing and singing abilities.
You brought a lot of laughter into
our home; you’re certainly my favorite
character (sorry, Larry). What’s new in
the works with you, Bob? Any improvements
you’d like to talk about? I hear you
are practicing a lot.
BOB: Well, Larry and I have been very
busy lately! VeggieTales is coming to Saturday
morning TV this fall on NBC, Telemundo,
and i Network as well as work on
our new DVD releasing this fall, Gideon:
Tuba Warrior. We also have a new movie
coming to theaters in 2008, The Pirates
Who Don’t Do Anything: A VeggieTales
Movie. All this work has made me a bit
tired, to tell you the truth!
LARRY: And you’ve been a little bit
grumpy too, Bob.
BOB: I’m sorry, Larry. I guess I just
didn’t realize …
LARRY: That’s okay.
BOB: What about that one time I brought
you cookies? Wasn’t I nice then?
LARRY: Yeah, that was real nice. Now
there’s something to eat with milk.
BOB: Larry, enough with the milk
already.
LARRY: Sorry, Bob.
BOB: That’s okay, Larry. Anyway, it has
been a little busy to say the least.
GENA: You guys are funny. I love how
you value each other’s friendship; that really
shows. And, I really appreciate you
boys stopping in; you’re always welcome
here. Our readers totally enjoy seeing
what you two fellows are up to.
BOB: Thanks for having us—it’s always
nice to be here! We have been up to a lot
lately, and I hope that everyone will be
able to watch us on Saturday mornings
this fall. It’ll be fun for folks to see my
house after all these years.
LARRY: Yeah, Bob’s house is
real nice. He has cookies and
milk …
BOB: Larry, don’t start that
again.
GENA: Bob, I think Larry’s thirsty for
milk. You might stop somewhere on the
way home. He seems a little overheated,
maybe …
LARRY: And all of our friends are there.
Working at Bob’s house has me thinking a
lot about home. I think it’s time for me to
redecorate. I am thinking about adding a
bathroom downstairs or painting the living
room a nice blue color. I like blue.
BOB: Larry, what does that have to do
with the TV show?
LARRY: I don’t know.
BOB: Ohhh-kay, thanks for having us. I
think it’s time for Larry to go home.
GENA: Yeah, me too, okay. And don’t
forget to stop out for milk. Thanks again,
guys, for dropping by. See ya! Don’t get
too wet on the way home!
